Oxo-Zone When Oxygen and Ozone are allied Ozone is a bluish-colored natural gas, composed of trivalent oxygen (O3) with oxidizing power. In nature it is generated by electrical discharges, during thunderstorms, or under the action of the sun's ultraviolet rays. It is known that an ozone layer protects our planet from UV-B sun rays, harmful to our health, while its exceptional properties of oxidant and disinfectant are less known. Ozone is not stable over the long term and is therefore not produced and marketed in cylinders like other industrial gases. It is generally prepared at the time of use through devices called ozonizers that convert the oxygen of the air into ozone through electric discharges. Given its ozone oxidizing power, it is used to whiten and disinfect in a similar way to chlorine. The possibility of using ozone for cleaning and sanitizing objects and environments derives from its high oxidizing power. Ozone is in fact capable of degrading and eliminating any polluting or harmful element such as viruses, mites, insects, spores, molds, harmful chemicals and even smoke and odors, all in a totally natural way. Being an unstable gas, a few minutes after use, the ozone is transformed into oxygen without leaving any type of trace or chemical residues, unpleasant odors and stains on the fabrics. As soon as ozone comes into contact with an organic matter, it triggers an oxidation reaction that eliminates all living microorganisms such as mites, bacteria, viruses, molds and fungi. The molecules responsible for odors are oxidized and transformed into other harmless molecules, thus eliminating any form of bad smell. Ozone is a gas heavier than air, therefore it is able to penetrate deeply into the fibers of the fabrics of mattresses, sofas, armchairs, carpets, car and boat interiors, in this way it reaches and eliminates any microorganism and substance foul-smelling present even in the most difficult to reach places. Unlike any other type of sanitization, ozone does not release any type of residue.
